I just got back from a great trip to Burlington, VT, where I touched base with Amy Kirschner of the Vermont Sustainable Exchange. She and cocreator Kyra Pinchiera have been working on creating an inquiry process to assist people in making ideas happen.
Many of us have grand visions of the future, but to be able to tranform those into a “minimum viable product” – something tangible and actionable – can be a bit of an art.
She showed me her sketches for taking idea to action, and i made them into a little graphic. Enjoy!
I enjoyed looking at this graphic, but “art project” simply does not cut it when the market does not get it. Also there are two markets–the avant guard, consisting of the hackers, the kum ba ya crowd, and the Occupy / Tea Party activitists– crudely speaking — and the larger majority that is clueless about inbred corruption. I’ve read Bill Moyer’s Doing Democracy and I see us in stage 5, the dark before final run to success begins, but I also have to wonder, how is it that so many simply don’t get it? Education rather than Art strikes me as key, understanding that Art can be Education. Waiting for Naomi Wolf to write the book, “Shock Education.” Believe that’s the next step. America needs a cattle prod up its intellectual ass.
Love what you do Venessa.
perhaps “art project” isn’t the correct language to use to frame it
what amy and i discussed was more along the lines of:
‘ experiential based action research and learning ‘
immersing people physically / cognitively / emotionally / spiritually / viscerally in an experience
one could call that art
š
Venessa, Look t Vern Allee’s work,Valuenetworks.com. Look at her products page. She’s been mapping intangibles for over 15 years.
Warmly,
Kathryn

Great post, I was reading Brad Feld and thought both of you should know or follow each other, I searched for you name in his blog and for his name on your blog and found that you both don’t mention the other. So here is his blog, http://www.feld.com/wp/ and a post that should interest you is, Creative Construction.
I will be giving mr. Feld your blog also, hoping something good comes out.
I used to have your direct email but changed computers and seem to have lost it, this message would have been better as an email.
